I will be posting some of the work that will be featured in the show in the following weeks.
Here's a little info about the venue:
Irene's Pub
885 Bank Street
Ottawa, ON
(613) 230-4474
Opened originally as Cap’n Pinkey’s by Irene Corey in September of 1985, this iconic pub in The Glebe has been a spiritual home to artists and musicians for a quarter of a century.
Those years have seen the pub host live musical events, art showing and special gatherings for the community.
It is always stocked with a variety of single malt whiskies and a wide selection of drafts on tap.
A menu of traditional and eclectic pub food is served daily.
Irene herself was awarded the “Charlotte Whitton Award” in 2005 for outstanding service to the community. Local councillor Clive Doucet pronounced Irene’s as “the only community centre in the city with draft taps”, a fitting honour for this meeting place for generations of pub goers in the city.
In February of 2007, the pub changed hands to its current owners, Frank and Sharon Johnson. Dedicated to preserving this feature of the Ottawa landscape, They have shown themselves to be sponsors of both the arts and the community. By extending the scope of art shows and musical events at the pub, they have more than carried on the traditions of this fine establishment.
